Yeah. I got this when I first started collecting and thought everything would have to look better cleaned. This sat in vinegar for a day or two I think.

 

I am unable to find the half cent, I was more thinking free unless it is sold as irreparable damage.

 

Yeah I know. Just kidding around. Why free though? Nobody ever gives me anything free and my wife already gives away her labor for free so I say that's enough.

 

Acid soaked. Vinegar is acetic acid. It reacts with copper to form copper acetate which is water soluble.

 

Thank you. Yeah, that's kinda what I figured (as far as the damage). So, I ruined a perfectly good coin. Moral of the story we all know. I guess I burned away about a gram or so.
