Grade Opinions -- 1820 Capped Bust Half

Here is a decent 1820 Capped Bust Half Dollar, Overton Variety -105. Even though it has probably been cleaned at some point in the past, I would appreciate some of your grade opinions.

Have NO idea how to grade these, but I'll say VF? Anyways, that is yet another sweet coin Bone. :thumb: Thanks for sharing! :thumb:

I think it has VF-20 details, but there's a lot of issues in the fields on both sides, in addition to the cleaning.

Net VG-8.

I have no experience with this type but my initial reaction was VF.

I see others agree, excluding the cleaning factor.

I would value/grade the coin like a VF details, cleaned, net F coin...Mike

 

I have to go against the grain here. I say Fine. There is not enough detail in the clasp or the hair behind the ear. The reverse does not have enough detail in the wings for VF.

Very nice coin Ben, I enjoy looking at them thats for sure. Guess I will have to start posting a few as well. : ) Not enough for the BCBHNC but close..
