This one sold for almost $300 on eBay by silverdenar and apparently fooled a lot of people. This seller and ancientground have been selling many fake bronzes with this patina. Despite being made by different civilizations and being minted centuries apart they have the same patina and mushy details. And another seleukid They are cast from real coins so the style will be correct, though details are severely lacking. These sellers also sell authentic bronzes which I'm sure confuses new buyers. Feel free to show any additional examples you are aware of. Another thread about this seller here
Why isn't eBay banning this seller? If it was fake Louis Vuitton or Gucci handbags, they'd be kicked off in an instant!
The amount of casting bubbles and the soapy details are already enough red flags. I really wonder what kind of people bid on these coins? Stupid ones or beginners? This one is bad as well, a fake tetradrachm sold for 220 pounds (~285 dollars): It think that ancientearth2006, ancientground and silverdenar are all the same group of people from Cyprus. It says "United Kingdom" on the advertisement, which is of course not true... I contacted silverdenar one time in Greek, asking where he got his coins from and if he is the same person as ancientground. He responded (in bad Greek) that the coins come from "old collections" and that he is indeed the same person as ancientground.
