I just bought this and wanted to see if I got a good deal, without telling what I paid. I know that according to the PCGS prices page it is worth $40. Is that an accurate value?? THANKS!!
Nope. The PCGS price "guide" prices are significantly higher than market. It's a bullion coin, and if you paid more than a nominal premium above bullion value you paid too much IMHO.
it's a proof so its not just "bullion" i wouldn't say you got a deal but what matters is if you like the deal
You can always sell it on Teletrade. Assuming someone else values the coin the same as you, the coin will sell for $18. After the $5 seller's fee you will net $13.
Nice coin! I would look at heritage auctions and ebay closed auctions to see what they close at. That will give you a rough idea of what it is worth.
I agree! A 1986-S Proof SAE is worth more than just its melt value. That coin has numismatic value as would a 1996 SAE or any other Proof grade or MS-70 certified SAE has.
Wow, gorgeous coin! Definetly worth more than melt, I'd say about $20-$25. So you didn't do too bad. Plus, said it before and I'll say it again, if you like the coin, that's all that matters. :thumb: (< Aren't emoticons great? ) Phoenix
