here's a coin that has a date 1643 but I am not sure of the origin , anyone Know?

    it's a pretty worn coin most likely a dig coin. I just guessed it was colonial since they used any coin available at the time 1643 colonial rev..jpg 1643 Colonial.jpg

    As late as 1911, the Channel Island of Geurnsey was still using the double as a denomination for coins, 8 doubles was the equivalent of a British penny.

    This may not matter, but there are 3 differences in the 2 coins that stand out.
    First, the crosses at the top between the date and DOUBLE are completely different.
    Second, the dots after the word double are of different sizes.
    Third, the date numbers seem to be of different styles.

    These differences may not matter at all, but then again....
    Maybe different mints, or different denominations, or....

    I'm not an expert or anything, I just happened to notice those differences.

    Here's a French Canadian coin that looks very similar, except for an H instead of a +

    I would definitely say your coin is a 1643 French something. lol
