I have a 1964 D Kennedy silver 50 cent it has the Transitional variety half dollar with Odv 002-RDV 001.The letter "I" is missing a serif on the bottom-left side plus while the reverse is the Type One reverse, with a straight G in the FS designer's initials and breaks in rays 11-13 (counting from the left) where they meet stars. The one i have is not a proof. Everything I have read on this ( it was not made at the D mint) But if you look up the mintage it show the 1964 D SMS Kennedy Half-Dollar Mintages The following table lists mint production numbers for the number of Kennedy Half Dollar produced at each mint facility. Where possible, production numbers by strike type are noted. Year Mint Mint Mark Mintage Notes 1964 Philadelphia 273,304,004 Struck in 1964: 87,448,004 In 1965: 144,182,000 In 1966: 41,674,000 1964 Proof Philadelphia 3,950,762 1964 SMS Philadelphia 1 Unique to The National Numismatic Collection 1964 Denver D 156,205,446 Struck in 1964:114,411,608 In 1965: 41,793,838 1964 SMS Denver D 1 Unique to The National Numismatic Collection
The I with the broken serif sounds like an accented hair variety. (Proof only.) But you will be told to start your own thread with photos instead of posting here on a different thread.
If I had that many SMS Denver strikes, I'd submit them to PCGS or NGC immediately - they're worth a small fortune, and you should have yours certified asap before any others are discovered, imo.
