I think it's 1DO-002 at least that's what it looks like to me. It's one I posted when I very first started collecting and people said it wasn't doubled die. I'm thinking that it is. Course I'm not certain.
That's not 002. I'm not sure if it is one at all tbh. 002 Example: http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1972&die_id=1972p1do002&die_state=eds
Seems like just light tricks. This is why I strongly advise people to avoid using microscopes until they have this stuff really down. Of course, I always defer to @Rick Stachowski
Might have something, might not. I don't know because I'm not going to open a bunch of thumbnail images to find out.
I’m the future, please click that button that says “post all as full image”. It’ll make it easier for us to see and magnify the images you post.
Yep, you got it! Thats certainly what it is, you caught me! It's a mixture of light and shadow trickery, because we all know that I'm such an amazing photographer, that I know how to use light and shadows in my pictures as ways to trick the audience of my sold out Vegas show. Come on, choose your words wiser don't be a fool. Trickery is something done with the intentions to trick the audience into thinking something is there that isn't. Its not usually done by accident, but on purpose with only that intent. Oh please... I am so done with this forum and the rude people on it, you all just don't know how to be kind. Most if you are such complete jerks that I would be surprised if you actually had a relationship with a real live human being, ever. There are ways to tell someone they are wrong without making them look like and/or feel like a complete idiot. There are ways to talk to people and ways not to. But I guess you probably don't get out much and were never taught these things. I'm completely finished with the imaturity in this forum and I would be surprised to hear that you guys make 10% of the people brand new to the hobby feel like they want to pursue it or just plain old give up. I'm fairly certian that at least a couple of my coins that I have posted since joining this site over a year ago have to be doubled die. I mean God forbid I'm actually right because everyone here is such a professional in all things minus the way they treat others. Enjoy your long lonely lives to the jerks and trolls that reside here (the numbers far exceed that than the ones that actually truly wish to teach you something). Hell, honestly for the most part, it almost seems like the majority of the people that like to think and pretend that they are so "educated" when it comes to collecting anything (minus enemies)here only ever have anythjng kind to say when they are saying it to the ones that are just like them. And to the extreme/select few that treated me with any kind of dignity, care and kindness.. . Thank you. I will never recommend this forum be joined to by anyone. You can get treated better as a freshman at the senior prom. The cliques are the worse I've seen on any webpage or forum. The best thing you all could do is just learn what the word professionalism means and if that word is too big then wait until you can understand it completely or at least pretend to. Oh and why even bother to open or read my post if all you can do is say rude disrespectful comments? Wow, i mean honestly the maturity and respect level at a juvenile detention center is far higher than it is here. I feel like I can get treated more human at an animal shelter or a zoo, than I ever was here by the majority of those that post their useless, and pointless responses, when all they really should have been doing was learning to keep their damn mouth shut, honestly you won't ever get anywhere in life if you continue this argumentum ad populum. Truly by now you must know that just because 85% of the population believed the world was flat didn't in fact make the world flat right? My mother (who at this very minute is in the inhospital getting a cancerous tumor removed from her liver) always told me that if I didn't have something nice to say to someone then it's best if I just say nothing at all. Trust me I understand completely that this sounds very hypocritical of.me to mention at this very minute, but in my defense a person can truly only take so much. To those of you that did keep it proffesional as well as respectful (you know who you are) & shook your head at your phone or your computer because of some dumb question myself or another nub asked, something we said (or didn't say), or just for the stupid amount of pictures I have posted just trying to have the perfect one that shows you what it is that I see in person but struggle to capture in an image, and instead of being mean and saying hurtful things, you chose to try and help me/us learn to take better images or had patience to explain in laymens terms making it easier for a civilian to understand, instead of typing what you wanted to at first, regardless of it being the hardest thing you have done, yes to those select few I ask that you please allow yourselves the chance to procreat, you are a better kind of person. I want to commend you for your kindness, patience and biting your tongue when others couldn't or just wouldn't, because they didn't want to show any sort of weakness by actually welcoming a fish or guppy to their pond. The elite select few anointed by the almighty himself to be the chosen ones that forsee the exact amount of possible doubled dies that a single year could have or how they "knew" what the obverse of the coin looked like down to each subtle die scratch and chip just by seeing the reverse of said coin, and are so certan that a coin is NOT a doubled die just because it wasn't on the master listing, (you know, the elites im.talmjnt abojtathat don't truly have an opinion and will never allow themselves that freedom because they are so argumentom ad populum? good thing Columbus didn't just go with the flow and assume they earth was flat eh? For those of you that didn't keep your mouth shut (you know who you are, but your very welcome to throw yourself under the bus or just come on out and admit it even though we all know who you are as well) I would like to send my sincere apology to you because I'm sure that the better part of your lives have been spent hiding behind a computer or some other electronic device, (yes, you!) please be sure to make an appointment at the next spay and neuter clinic and get that handled before you add more viscious trolls and immature bullies to the lineup. There are far to many of you on this tiny little planet we reside on (oh and also perhaps take.some kindergarten classes with some local elementary school to go back to the grade that the rest of us learned how to treat others and become a better person). I mean just imagine how much the suicide rates and school shootings would go down in numbers if people were just nicer to each other. .. can you? I've noticed that it's usually the trolls & bullies on forums or groups that never have the guts to say anything to your face, you know... usually the same ones that were picked on or beat up in school, the same ones I defended while they ran with their tail between their legs, the same ones I took punches for so they wouldn't have to, the same ones that hide behind a computer because that's all they know how to do. Im sorry that your life has been rough but man, I don't know one persons that's been easy .I mean hell, my little girl had cancer before she was ever born so trust me, most of your life has been a cake walk compared to some that haven't even been here for more than a week. So, stop being your own worse enemy (as well as everyone elses) and start welcoming the fact that you have something to offer others, welcome the fact that you are able to and get to teach others, and remember that not everyone was a jerk to the ones that didn't dress the best or got picked last for the dodgeball team Treat others with the kind of.respect you would want yourself or a loved one to be treated with. Always remember that one.kind word went so far making someone that was terminally ill smile one last time and one tiny little act of kindness gave that person in an abusive relationship the courage and strength to finally leave their abuser, one pleasent warm.welcome gave that sophmore the drive to stick it out for one more day which in turn changed their life completely around in such a small amount of time in comparison to their age. Please just try be to kind to others even if they learn slower than you, or just don't understand something that's so simple for you to understand, because we are each individual people and it takes a lot more energy to be hateful and mean than to be welcoming, kind and gentle to one another. Thanks, Rachel Over and out
RR - while your post above is well-written, it really doesn't address the issue at hand. Although I don't know which group I'm in, that you mentioned, I know that many others on this Error forum chatroom always try to help out new collectors and cherry-pickers. However, it appears that the solution to your position is that we should tell you and others that -most- of what you're finding (with way too high-powered mag. glasses or microscopes) are indeed doubled dies, or could be doubled dies . ....even when the photos posted for a particular coin (that have to be requested numerous times, in some cases) show those who know what a true, genuine, Doubled Die coin looks like, can easily tell (in 98% of the cases) that the coin posted is not a doubled die. So in effect you are saying we are not nice because we tell the truth - I do this, and see this often myself at coin shows (including last week's FUN show in Orlando) where people simply do not want to believe what someone else (not me, 'cause it doesn't matter to me) here tells the posters that their coins are not errors or doubled dies. I, and I assume all the other folks who post their opinions, views, and facts here, can not keep you happy with false info. In fact, most posts that say 'sorry, not a doubled die', end with 'keep looking', or some similar sentiment, and also include websites or book recommendations to learn about the Minting Process or what a doubled die looks like. Sorry you've been offended, snowflake. In life, The Truth Can Hurt. Believe me, you are not the first person to tell any of us we don't know what we're talking about. We are not rude in the vast majority of cases, just trying to be helpful to new collectors and cherrypickers. I'm sure you'll spend the next few months or years thinking how wrong we were in what we said about your coins - while most of us here won't remember you by dinnertime.' Numerous times - WE TRIED TO HELP Fred
RR, there is certainly a lot going on in your comments. I gather this has not been one of you finest days and I hope it gets way better honestly. While I agree some members can come across ubrupt, I believe all minus an outlier or two do wish to help. Your comments attack so many other issues that have no relevance here. I know that I for one hope you find many coins to make you happy. But that does not change the fact that when you post a picture inquiring learned opinions by subject matter experts and that opinion does not mesh with your assessment, you can agree or disagree. FYI, I do agree that condor101's comment was not necessary. If you don't want to look at pictures, is it needed to tell people that? Maybe, maybe not, I wouldn't have but I am not him and don't know his intent behind the comment.
I'm hoping to get people, not just the OP, to stop using the thumbnail option. I do try to help people here, I WANT to help them if I can, but after awhile I just get sick and tired or having to open and enlarge each picture in another tab and then go back and do the next one etc. It wastes my time and effort and slows down my progress going through the various forums. And I spend too much time online as it is. PLEASE use the full size option.
I don't think that I've ever read a rant like that on here with such correct spelling and grammar. You rock!!
He was not saying that you were trying to play tricks on us with your lighting, he was saying the light can play tricks on YOUR eyes reflecting off a coin. It does it to EVERYONE's eyes and sometimes it takes a lot of experience looking at coins through a microscope to tell if it is just the light or not. And I agree, so nice to actually read proper grammar, punctuation and complete sentences!
