This is what I call a " woody " , a better example of the streaky planchet syndrome that I like to collect. A matched set like this could take a lifetime, if it even exists....not a great date, but a great " woody"

I have paid anywhere from 2-3 cents each to may more than I should have, it depends how bad you want it. This was in a 3lot for $7.00 total, I consider it a bargain.

Are you saying that you do not know if you were outbid? I hope that is still easy to figure out.

    1909 woody

Here's a 1909-S of mine with some woodgrain effect.

I guess, since it covers about half the coin, you'd call it a semi-woody.

it also has cancer and that makes me sad. is there a way to get the green plague off this coin without destroying any collectable value it may have?

My oldman's 1909-1940 (complete, minus the 1922-p, it hadn't been ID'd when the folder was made back in the 50s) collection in a Whitman Trifolder. Lots of those have this sort of grain. I'll try to pull it out today.
