I found a 1970-S Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent recently. Does anyone know where I might could sell a coin like this if it is ungraded. I need to sell this coin so that I can get the other coins I have graded. I actually found more than one of these coins. I know this sounds far fetched, but I have matched up all the die markers.

I used this page from doubleddie.com to go on.

Die Markers: Obverse: Numerous die scratches run from SW to NE through the letters of WE and between WE and TRUST. A vertical die scratch can be found above the E in LIBERTY. A die scratch runs NE from the mint mark through the lower 7 and the upper left zero in the date. A die scratch runs from north to south below the chin. Reverse: A die scratch runs SE from the top right of the 2nd T in STATES to the top right of the 1st U in PLURIBUS. A short, diagonal die gouge can be found to the right of the top of the M in UNUM. A die gouge can be found to the left of the bottom of the T in CENT. A short die scratch runs from SSW to NNE in the field below the Memoial and left of the left post.

I just wish I could get a clear picture of everything I can see with my loupe. Also, some of the die markers are less clear on some of the coins. They all have the scratches through WE and between WE and TRUST, as well as the vertical die scratch north to south below the chin.

    My question is.....

Where could I sell one of these coins so that I can pay to have the others graded? I could sell one at a greatly discounted price if anyone is interested. 20190111_090630.jpg 20190111_090657.jpg 20190111_090955.jpg 20190111_091031.jpg 20190111_091104.jpg 20190111_090955.jpg 20190111_091258.jpg 20190111_090701.jpg

I am definitely not an expert (very little knowledge, actually) of error coins... but I do know about selling.

My advice would either be to find someone to sell to on CoinTalk who is interested in them... OR... Sell them on EBay.

I've sold LOTS of coins on EBay, and it is about the only place that I've seen more than a scattered few Error Coins. If someone is looking for one, they'll check EBay, and you'll probably get the best amount of money for it.

If you search SOLD items on EBay for 1970-S DDO... you'll see that average prices are $1 to $10, unless Graded and in MS66/67... then maybe more like $60 to $100.

I hope that helps! The real thing you never know is HOW MUCH you'll get for a coin on EBay... you never know until it sells. Just make sure you put either your starting price (auction) or Buy It Now (fixed price) at the MINIMUM you want to get for it, as it may be the case.

Where exactly are you seeing doubling? It doesn't really matter if you say the die markers match up - if there isn't really strong obverse doubling, it's not the DDO-001 - shown here at linconcentresource.

The 1970 S DDO-001 is an extremely rare, extremely strong doubled die. Even with your photos (which are blurry enough that they would hide minor doubling but not major doubling like the -001) I'm not seeing anything resembling a major and valuable DDO. The statement that you found "more than one" leads me to believe you didn't find even one.

I think it's more likely that this coin (and the others you have) are examples of the BDO-001 (Blurred Die Obverse) that we see here oh, maybe twice a day? (I'm having fun and making a joke, not trying to be mean to you.)

ALL THAT BEING SAID...if you did have a major doubled die, you'd need to be able to SHOW IT in your pictures. Someone could probably give you decent money for an unslabbed variety - especially a major one - but WE have to be able to see what YOU see, understand?

    Otherwise, it's just a shiny 1970 S Memorial Cent, worth 1c.

@stldanceartist is completely right, this coin is very rare.
All of the DDO's and DDR's I own are raw, So I would be a player.
These photos just aren't going to cut it.
