1982 Penny anyone know what this is on my 82 penny

    It looks like either heavy die polish or a problem with the copper plating of the planchets at the mint. I'm betting the former rather than the latter. (Die polish) I don't believe it's worth a premium but we'll see what the error experts have to say.

    I've seen it referred to as "zinc blisters". Common, worth 1¢

    I see a car driving across Lincolns face.

    Why would someone at the mint spend such significant amount of time, and put the press out of action for that time, to etch a scene like that on a harden steel die either his fingers or pen? Plus, not get caught?
