Hello all i was going through rolls and found this ,i first thought i found a 1943 steel until i seen date of 1945.i am aware of when steels was made along with them using shell casings around this time.i guess my questions would be is this normal for a wheat to look like this ,along with the weight of 2.8...it does not stick to magnet it just looked very odd compared to all my other wheats thanks
I thought it might have came out of ground or possibly a wet inviroment awile, just wasnt for sure if that could make it look rusty, and maybe weight was due to ware on coin possibly...had to ask for sure since it was a bit different.
Unfortunately it's just Environmental Damage Exposure to soil, dirt, sand and the elements for a extended period of time can affect old Wheat Cents.
Poor Abe looks like he has been in the ground since 1865!! Looks like one of those stick swinger found it and put it back into circulation and you found it!!!
Lucky me haha, atleast the 45 has a interesting story/history behind it i guess.i thought that was pretty cool they used amunision shells to make pennies in this year..which i recieved knowledge from finding this coin, but yeah it defenetly seen better days lol
I keep all kinds of coins that don’t have value! Because I like them. I have a couple of stacks of pennies, nickels, and dimes DRYER coins! Not worth anything but the face value that you can pass it off to the next sap!
