    Ardatirion Où est mon poisson

Well, seeing De Orc upload his interesting collection to a website made me realize how far I am behind on this kind of "paperwork." So I scanned and uploaded a bunch of coins that I had been procrastinating with. (One waited since August!)

Very cool. You're really getting to have quite the collection. I take particular interest in the Claudius Sestertius and the Hadrian As, as they fall within my collecting area of interest. But I also like your Septimius Severus sestertius which falls just outside of my collecting area...Quite nice.

Hey Rickie. I started collecting ancients around 2 years ago. However, I have since narrowed my focus down and am currently interested in the larger bronze coins (Asses, Dupondii and Sestertii) of the emperors from Augustus to Commodus. I love the bronze coins! I am now trying to get a portrait coin from each emperor in that range. I have 5 so far with 1 or 2 probably needing a better replacement at some point. I also sold off 4 or 5 coins I had that didn't fit into my collecting area. I don't buy many coins because I try to save up my money and get slightly nicer coins...or course this is all relative. To me, this means saving to buy a $135 coin instead of a $35 coin. It's a lot of fun though!

Of course, AnemicOak has gotten me interested in the bronze coins of Pantikapaion now too, like in his avatar! But I don't have any of those yet.

    Ardatirion Où est mon poisson

Rather than starting a new thread, I've decided to keep this one as my own personal additions thread. :-D

Diva Faustina Senior denarius - 148-161 AD
    Gallienus sestertius - 254 AD
Constantine I follis, with bust of Sol reverse - 310-313 AD

I'm particularly pleased with the Constantine, that reverse is fairly rare. Its also interesting to note that on better preserved specimens, Sol bears a resemblance to Constantine. Pity that the reverse is so poor, though.

Yet another addition. This is actually a fairly rare coin, one of the few issued in the name of this woman, the mother of Claudius. And to think, I got it for $19!

    Antonia dupondius - 50-54 AD

Feel free to comment on the coins in the gallery, I don't have nearly enough comments!

Sometimes there is a resemblance, and sometimes not. Any resemblance is better attributed to the particular style of the engraver and the fact that many busts of the early fourth century resemble each other. On many coins of the tetrarchy the busts look very similar.
