@Prez2 - Hiya..>You can go up to the upper right corner of your screen ABOVE where your avatar is. You see three options..>Click on "alerts" When you get there, on the far left hand side of the screen you will see "start new conversation" go there and fill out the form.
I rest my case: Read carefully and it doesn't hurt to ask somebody with knowledge. Then post to CT with information that enlightens those of us who do not know the details - like these shared above, upon which I am sure we can rely!
@Noah Finney I see you now have a gold Indian in your avatar. I know you had been dreaming of owning one. Is that yours or a dream photo from the web?
I think it's VERY cool that the longtime owner kept it raw for so many years. Leave it to Fox News headline writers to blow the true story. Every time I read a thread on CoinTalk that goes like this one, the MORE glad I am that I'm a "show-going" numismatist, and not a web numismatist. We get the news first-hand, not regurgitated with the web's spin and garbage added to it. You need to GO THERE, and PARTICIPATE, and INTERACT, and SOCIALIZE, and SCHMOOZE, and IMBIBE RESPONSIBLY. Oooh, ooh, all that AND discover for yourself what an utterly contemptible human being (as if...) "RWB" is, in person.
And also, the current high bid, $100K, is a good bit off of Fox News' clickbaitish story of "possibly $1.7 million". Only $1.6 million off, so far. Only two days to go. Such F.U.N. The 18th known Sac/State Quarter mule is up in the same sale.
Nope, I own this with along with my MS- 65 Morgan dollar, I worked hard all last summer cutting grass for it.
Aw @Noah Finney !! Most of us are learning here on CT. We should have patience with each other as we gain experience. I gotta say that your attitude is wonderful. It shows there is a true man developing there within you. Nice! I learned something from this thread, too!
Don't get me wrong, I love reading about the 1943 copper. I was just being honest when I said the title was misleading. I'm trying to find out when the last copper 1943 was found. I don't see the information I need, but I am assuming it was many years ago. The one that I thought was recent (an S coin) had been in the family for decades.
Wowser. So that was you!!! I'm impressed! 13 and your first Gold Piece! Coming up and refining your tastes quick buddy, I like it!!!!
I blame the FOX article, not you. This was the FIRST copper 1943 found, but it is among the least well-preserved, judging from the sale catalog. So we'll see what matters more, condition or history.
I believe you are referring to the fake story common in the 50's and 60's that Ford would give a new car to the finder of a copper 1943 cent. (either that or a modern variation that they would for an aluminum 1974 cent) The existence of the last previously unknown ones was announced in Coin World in May of 2017. Two MS pieces that had been in a mint employees possession since 1943. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...rted-1943-copper-alloy-cents-surface.all.html
