The Obverse is off center more than reverse so I'm not sure if this is just an off center strike. Also wondering about a collar clash on Obverse. I've read error-ref on collar clashes but don't think I fully understand them! So looking for some help on this. Thanks.
Hi. What you have there is called a Misaligned Die Strike. There is a difference between an Off Center Strike and a MAD - Misaligned Die Strike. http://www.lincolncentforum.com/misaligned-die-errors-vs-off-center-strikes/ You can find that many of these MAD strikes occured in the early 1980's such as yours.
Also.. A Collar Clash is an issue mostly associated with Reeded coins such as Dimes, Quarters and Kennedy Half Dollars. https://www.errorvariety.com/Clashes/Collar Clash.html The error-ref webpage as you have mentioned explains it very well. http://www.error-ref.com/collar-clash/
