Extraordinarily common coin in extraordinarily bad condition.

Also.. No Mint Mark means it was minted at thr Philadelphia Mint. They don't use the P Mint Mark on Cents. They only did it for 1 year which was 2017.

...until they come up with the next contrivance and do it again..

    John Skelton Morgan man!

Is there a reason you think it's worth more than a penny?

It does have one interesting historical wrinkle - it was made from WW2 spent shell casings. 1944-46.

I thought all 1945 Cents were made from recycled German guns.

If they were made from spent shell casings, they would be brass.

Spent shell casings were used along with enough copper and tin to bring the metal up to the correct alloy. That is one of the reasons that there are more lamination errors than in other years.

They ARE brass. Check your Red Book. 1944-46 cents ARE brass. The regular alloy resumed in 1947.

I was just pointing out that the cents weren't made of straight shell casings.

Not from German guns... German babies. Babies.

  16. I have a complete year set of wheat cents without mint marks that I hope to have auctioned at the ANA show in August

Ummm, no. That isn't the right kind of material for an ANA sale. It won't even make the after-the-show Internet-only level. They'd have to be ALL certified MS66 or better.

Where's the "found this BEAT coin in a parking lot-what's it worth" filter???

I am really amazed that "everyone" didn't already know about 1944-46 cents being brass. I thought that stuff was "Numismatics 101" stuff.

Through the emoji in there. There are many, many "interesting" questions and comments from new collectors on here, so it's not always easy to sort out the humor/sarcasm. :banghead:
