Nope. It's half of the "Half Dollar Set" . One clad Apollo 11 in proof and one clad Kennedy in reverse proof (a Ydennek Flah). Price hasn't been announced yet.
I heard that the mint is having issues getting enough planchets for the 5oz. So they're probably only going to release some on the 24th.
were is there more info than the US Mint site? y'all seem to know a lot more about these than the Mint's site is showing?
Where are the pics? So the half dollars are going to be reverse proofs of the regular Kennedy design, and the silver dollars are going to be those footprint things?
(I'm chatting right now with a US Mint Customer Service Rep) 1:02 PM Customer 1) How many coins come in the "Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Half Dollar Set?" 1:04 PM Aubrianna Unfortunately, we do not have the requested information for the product. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back at a later date. 1:04 PM Customer Uh, they're going on sale in 16 days... And you don't know yet? This does not inspire confidence in our friends at the US Mint.
No, all four of the commemorative coins will have the same design. Footprint on one side, image of the lander etc in Aldrin's faceplate on the other. The half dollar is being sold as part of a two coin set that has the Apollo coin and an enhanced reverse proof Kennedy half.
Thanks @Conder101. I should know this already, but do you have links showing what the coins will look like? Every time I Google, I just see the plain curved footprint coin...
These are the only images I know of of the actual coin(s) Everything else is just artist renditions. These images were taken at the first striking ceremony on Dec 13th. These are of the silver dollar. This is an image of the 5 oz coin from the first strike ceremony.
