Welcome back to the next enrollment of Soren seeing something that's not there while trying (unsuccessfully) to cherrypick coins online! Today I spent some time looking if I could find any 1909 VDB DDOs, and I found 2 coins that sorta look like FS-1102 (012.1). Left is the sample image (PCGS Coinfacts) and the two possible examples are right. The dates on the two coins appear to show the same extra thickness as the variety, I think most notably the first 9 and 0. I see what appears to have the same extra thickness here on LIBERTY as well. The middle coin it looks to have the same die chip in the top loop of the B (though it does appear to be a LDS). Hopefully I haven't taken too much time from your lives to try to solidify my knowledge and help my skills Soren.
From what the pictures show me I don't see any kind of a double die error but then again I am probably wrong.here is my vdb
It is.....look at the lip...its stamped vdb .wat are u suggesting it is.my pics are bad,ill try again
Im sorry, im goin bed, i hv both but im lookn at my 1914-d....im sorry....ur correct..front is 14 back is 09.....goodnight ....
I've been collecting Lincoln Wheat Cents for more than 60 years, and I still don 't have a '14-D or any of the rare '09 varieties, so congrats. To @Michael K thanks for your help last month in searching out a decent '24-D. I found a very nice one for much less than I was prepared to spend.
Wasn’t the VDB added to the obverse starting in 1916 or 1917? It shouldn’t be present on a genuine 14-D...
It’s certainly possible; I was going off the top of my head and isn’t something I’ve thought about in a long time.
