Here is a very nice rupee from the East India Company dated 1840, Queen Victoria. The luster is still visible on the coin, but there are a significant number and frequency of bag marks in the obverse fields and bust, alas... Tell me what you think. Take Care Ben
oh i so forgot that you are intersted in this stuff. here is my latest purchase its a Bengal presidency rupee 1218/19
Rupee I had no idea that Queen Victoria had been that hot, the bulk of the pictures or images of her I have seen were based on her later years. Now I have another reason for collecting, I would put this image up against the Peace $ anythime.
ewww dont take the fun out of collecting many hundreds of my coins will become untouchable. whata horrible thought i will just pretend that you never heard that
Spock, that's a nice looking coin. You'd think that for as long as I lived in Saudi Arabia I'd know which way the writing goes when I post pictures of some of my Islamic/Hindu coins, LOL...
lol Ben, i am in the same boat. but saudi arabia follows the arabic script and this coin follows the persian script as far as i know. The hindu script is the devnagri script, which i can read as well as english i can make out shah jahan coins though with ease the rest i have to read the caligraphy like a student of painting here is another coin there are tons of indian coins that i get that i dont post becoz of a lack of interest
