Lets all throw in on it. We just need 50 cointalkers to split the cost. Then we send em to Bonedigger for authentication and grading. Then Bonedigger can randomly pull them from the cigar box and throw darts at the list of cointalkers names to determine who gets what.

    Check his past auctions.

He bought a bunch of coins at a farm auction and had a roll of buffalo niickels that were unsearched.

Betting there is a 1908-S in there and nothing much else. Methinks I smell a scam.

I agree it would be fun to search, but at that price I would buy a 1908-S seperate - then another shotgun roll. Now the reason I say 08-S is because to me on the 08 the S is thicker(top and bottom) than the S on the 09, plus I think S on the 09 is more open. That is just my opinion and I could be wrong - but I think the odds are in my favor anyway. Maybe "pennysniper" will come along and snatch them up. :)

It's at $510 NOW. It will go up to well beyond what it's worth. IMHO it's alreay well beyond what it's worth.

Look at the auction people. He repeats himself three times in bold lettering. It's a salted roll folks.

Think about this. If you actually got a roll like this from an estate etc. you wouldn't crack it open? There could be 5 09-S and a hand full of 1877 but he's such a good guy he's just gonna toss the roll up for grabs.

In his completed auction of Buffaloes he states he just doesn't have the time. How long does it take to crack open a roll and look through it? Days? Weeks? MINUTES?

Sorry if I'm ripping on y'all but he has also sold a lot of unsearched wheats. He's excited alright. Excited at the prospect of selling a $150-200 roll for several hundred more.

I said if the seller was honest, I didn't know that their were any dishonest sellers of coins on eBay! lol Like clembo says everyone that has any sense would crack the roll open. I know I would!

Man, wish he'd at least showed the entire roll instead of the ends.

What is a shotgun roll, and more importantly, what is a salted roll??

    TC:
a shotgun roll is one where the coins are machine wrapped -- just look at the picture for that lot on ebay.
Salted roll: You add a few nice coins to increase the interest & bids on a very ordinary roll.
