Unfortunately, none of the notes you’ve posted have any value above face value. Check out this website for insight into what serial numbers collectors consider valuable. http://www.coolserialnumbers.com/FancySerialNumbers.aspx
My combinatorics knowledge is pretty dusty, so I'm not sure what the odds are of finding an adjacent pair of digits in an 8-digit number. But out of 13 bills in my wallet right now, 7 have doubles, and one has a triple, so I'm going to say they're really, really common. Out of the same 13 bills, one has two pairs, one has two adjacent two-digit repeats (7878), and two have overlapping repeats (89898). Our brains are really good at spotting patterns, and there are lots and lots of different patterns that can show up in a serial number. In fact, for any serial number, you can probably find some sort of pattern in it. The only ones interesting to collectors are the rare ones, though. And if you find a pattern in the first few bills you search, or find it several times in a small batch of bills, it's probably not rare!
Here is a good explanation of what you would like to find. Not much else really matters. http://www.coolserialnumbers.com/FancySerialNumbers.aspx
Shrews, you've opened an entirely different era with bank notes. Doubled numbers are nothing but there are fancy serial numbers.
@Shrews1994 Hi.. All of the notes you have shown us are normal Serial Numbers. None are what are called Repeaters.. Here are 3 examples of Repeater Serial Numbers that I have found in circulation -
@Shrews1994 Oh.. And don't use the word Doubled when talking about paper currency.. that is to be used only when talking about Doubled Dies
Smiley face emoji noted, but I can't resist pointing out that there is the "Double Denomination" note - one value on the face, a different value on the back. One of the most popular currency errors - generally go for thousands of dollars. And I have seen pictures of double serial number notes - one serial number printed over another - another rarity, though not as expensive as a double denomination.
You are correct and I totally agree with you. I meant the use of the word Doubled vs Double.. There is a difference. It's correct to say Double Denomination and Double Serial numbers but not Doubled
I don't like when people try to be smart. I'm here to learn but not while people act like that towards me.
You are right that it makes no sense to say "Doubled Denomination". But when it comes to the double (or doubled) serial number, I have seen it both ways. I don't prefer one over the other, both work to describe the note as far as I am concerned. And I found a "doubled face print" on eBay (and a "double back print"), but for both notes, PMG calls them "doubled". https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-20-00...b:g:0nsAAOSwYNxaZMH3:rk:3:pf:1&frcectupt=true
Lol opened up a new era.... I'm sorry. I was looking and saw doubled numbers could be a good thing. So I asked here to give me the real info. Lol
