Thanks. It's always good having others opinions. Cause they can be wrong lol. Still good grades. That's good.
That's a handsome 1899. It might barely squeak by as XF40 for some, though I'm more of the VF30-35 opinion, personally. Regardless, it has a nice original appearance. I agree with VG8 on the 1911. Here are the PCGS/Photograde standards. Scroll left for the circulated grades.
I think the 1899 is a VF30. These are really nice samples and your learning and passion in numismatics is inspiring.
The Barber design doesn't get a lot of love from the numismatic community but they were a very well-executed design from a technical standpoint - they wore well and retained detail much longer than many other "prettier" designs. I need one more dime in my Barber dime Dansco...
I love doing this. I had to get myself into a hobby. There is still so much to learn that it will never get boring and it keeps me occupied.
Shrews ...you and a very "few" others YN's here on CT are a breath of fresh air! IMHO as a collector for over 50 years...I see way to many who want to be a part of this hobby but lack the passion and drive to learn . I have posted many times here if you don't like history, Don't like to read and learn, research the subject..you're in the wrong hobby! Now don't let this go to your head...as your mannors ,drive ,and passion is what members as myself who have been collecting for years love to see. Your respect and willingness to learn is why many members have taken a liking to you.! Again stay as you are.... and focused on what drives you....be open to learn, and most of all enjoy what you do. There's no reason why a young lady of your age couldn't make a living in this hobby. We need more women in this hobby.... especially those that show the passion that you do.
