This coin should be easy but it has me stumped. The obverse shows a bust of Poseidon with an ornamented trident reverse, very similar to the type from Halikarnassos Caria, but the inscription around it doesn't match that city. To the right appear to be the letters .. ΠOΛΛ.. with a control mark at the bottom left that looks like an owl standing. The Carian city Apollonia Salbace seems to fit but I can't find any examples of this type. Size is 17mm and 6.0gms. Any ideas? Also, if anyone is going to the FUN show in Orlando next week stop by the budget section and say hello.
@Bob L. and @Ajax : Thanks! That's it. I went through acsearch.info probably 10 times but I just entered the Greek lettering instead of English. It appears I have to try both.
That's a nice Halicarnassus, Brian. I recently got one in a big lot and spent a lot of time looking at these - yours is one of the better ones I've seen (and I looked at a lot of them - ascearch, vcoins, etc.). There are many variations - especially in the decorations surrounding the shaft of the trident - yours has what might be an owl on the left? Both the style and surfaces are quite nice. Here is mine - it is not nearly as pretty as yours:
