So, today I found an unusual penny It is a 2014 Shield penny minted in Denver. However, the problem is not with the shape or construction it is with what it is made from. I really am not sure what to make of it. I believe it is pure zinc but not sure. It is not acid etched and I cannot find any other mistakes in printing like this (of this year.) Any help or insight would be appreciated. P.S. I could not upload the pictures for some reason. https://imgur.com/gallery/MVuvx23
Too shiny to be the Zinc core.. Maybe plated. You had it right in the beginning if your post saying that it was minted.. But coins aren't printed, paper currency is printed.
It's been plated. Doesn't have the right surfaces or luster for a cent struck on an un-plated zinc planchet.
