Meow found this very frosty Nevada quarter. Meow has not ever found a coin CRH that had a finish like this. WIN_20190103_16_44_59_Pro.jpg WIN_20190103_16_45_05_Pro.jpg WIN_20190103_16_45_27_Pro.jpg WIN_20190103_16_45_33_Pro.jpg

I wonder if it's one of those satin coins they produced for mint sets from 2005-2010. Probably not. I'll wait and see what others think.

The finish is totally uniform. No flow lines, or shiny spots. Really stood out from the rest of the quarters.

Looks like someone was trying to kill George. lol. Otherwise nice coin.

    Good work Meow!

It does look like the satin finish that was used (only) on the Mint Sets.

It probably is a specialty coin. Its just struck way too perfect.

That is what it is! Except Meow's one is more like a AU 58

Before the Satin Mint Sets were introduced in 2005, all Mint Sets were put together using normal coins struck for circulation. The satin finish coins were treated almost like proof coins as they were handled with "kid gloves".

However, not every SMS coin was worthy of grading. Many of those that failed to make the grade were simply dumped into circulation. I suspect that your specimen is one of those.

That feels kinda sad for the poor coin, as it was meant for a privileged life; not a common.
