This clip does not look straight. It curves it's 15% curved. Not alot but it's curved. This did not happen after it left the mint. It clearly shows the curve.
Tell me why you don't see it curve? What's the problem you see here? Tell me why you think this happened after it left the mint? Cause I can see it it doesn't have any scraping, scratching of some other type of tool that someone did.
1. It has the Blakesley Effect opposite the clip on both sides, especially noticeable on the reverse. 2. It has the proper 'cut and tear' marks INSIDE the clip. This is the result of the punch going thru the planchet strip 51% of the way, and the rest of the blank is 'pushed' thru the strip. 3. It has metal flow at the clipped area, especially noticeable on the obv. As I've posted, it is a genuine curved clipped planchet error coin. Not sure why some don't think it's genuine.
It's easy to see a lack of any tool marks when you showed the edge in question. I'd protect this coin with an airtight.
And I wasn't asking if it was fake or if it was curved or not. I was just showing the thing. Not for it to be bashed.
I'm in agreement with Fred. If Kanga thinks otherwise he should pay to send it in. I see the Blakesley effect.
I have many nickel clippers, double clips, even a triple clip. The 25% nickel content doesn’t always flow like copper. The Blakesley is there & a side shot 180 from the clip will show it. Imho
Nice photos, especially of the clipped area. I would agree with Fred as he has seen a lot more of these errors than most. I think some don't believe it is a true clipped coin because of the shape of the cut not matching a nickel shape.
The curve looks irregular to me and I don't see any Blakesley Effect, but if @Fred Weinberg passes on it, that's good enough for me.
Please don't take offence, if we sincerely thought it were not authentic, we would not be doing you any favors by withholding that information.
Yes i do .. it's so cool. I posted it on ct before. But no one seen or commented on it and I have a bald bison too lol No hair on his head.
