A dateless nickel. curve clip error

    Looks more straight than curved. Could be a straight edge clip. Not a curved clip.

    It curves right before the 1 where the date is supposed to be.

    Need to see an edge view and close up the clip. It looks strange to me, like not the same size of a clipped coin, but Fred W would be able to tell with the close up.

    Metal flow would account for
    the not perfect 'curve' -

    .....a not unusual event on some curved
    clipped planchets.

    Well its from after 1966.

    Likely 1977 to 82. Lower relief than 66-70, wrong hub type for 71-76.

    IMO it was made outside of the Mint.

    It's a genuine, curved clipped
    (or 'incomplete') planchet.

    It has all 3 of the characteristics
    it should have.

    What 3 characteristics are you talking about?
    I don't see the Blakesley Effect.
    I don't see rim fading at either end of the "clip".
    I don't see a nicely curved arc; there seems to be a kink in the middle.

    I don't see what Kanga doesn't see. Why do you think it's a genuine clip?
