This may be fun. Just post the coin you really did not fathom you would buy in 2018. I’ll start. For me, it was this Buffalo off my usual radar:
I really liked the symbolism on this coin. It is quite busy with things. And this is my third slabbed coin. When doing research I found it has 29 varieties. This one is type 12.
No need for a photo. It was a bag of 213 unsearched wheat cents for $5.00 that the dealer said "give me four dollars and it's yours." I did.
I’ve just recently posted this, but I didn’t expect to fill all of these holes this year. I started 2018 with all of them empty. Also this So-Called Dollar, HK-606. It’s rare, although they do come up for sale on a somewhat regular basis. All of my previous attempts were either simply too costly to begin with or I was sniped at the end. I had zero competing bids on this piece, so I was super surprised as well as happy.
I saw your listing. I’m surprised that doesn’t go into the personal vault!! I could never part with that.
It's a PCGS Regency. A slab collector's dream (alongside an NGC Black and a PCGS White Rattler, both of which are the first generation of holders for those companies).
