Some really high quality AR tetradrachms, from many mints:) I could be drawn into adding these to my slate of to dos.

Thanks for the reminder, I did look at Triton XXII. A museum online! As much as I like that double dinar of Ardashir I (and the very rare silver Kushanshah issue, that Herat drachm, the second known), I have to say no, can't afford thousands (or one of those, either).

My specialty is Roman Provincial coinage so I submitted about a dozen bids a couple of weeks ago. The CNG offering is spectacular & the bidding has reached a CRAZY level already . Yesterday they posted their next electronic auction & many of the lower grade Prieur coins can be seen there. The Triton XXII auction closes in four days so I'll review my bids before then. The likelihood of scoring anything looks grim :(, but at least I've got the catalog to drool over :sour:....

I have one bid in there....still leading:) Another bid in World section, also ahead. My stupid mistake was that I spent most of my coin budget in Nov./Dec. So, now I am left out of these spectacular January auction events. My goal for 2019 coin season, is to be smarter and have 25K avaliable for Triton XXIII/ Stacks/ NY sale. I will be OK for Heritage since i consigned a slew of currency for their auctions. Also hope to sell more bugs.

My wife would murder me if I spent that much on a coin. $300-$400 is about as much as I can reasonably explain on a credit card statement!

My wife said it was going to be like this...what you earn in first 40 hrs a wk/ goes to her to pay bills/ etc. All overtime after that I can use to finance my coin collection:) So, I work a lot of 100 hr weeks, thinking of which coin auctions to place bids on. That is a fair compromise:)

That's some commitment! And in the end, you're still investing in something whose value will go up over time, which is more than can be said for those who spend their money on expensive toys like a boat.
