When do you roll search?

I was thinking about this on my lunch hour when I was searching some cent and nickle rolls. Lunch time is when I do most of my searching, it's when I have the most freee time. When do you search?

Hmmm, good question. I haven't roll searched for quite awhile, maybe a few months. Need to get back into that, lol. But, I normally would search either once I got the rolls or a short time afterwards.

I try to get 10 rolls of nickels every Friday, and I search them at my desk at work throughout the day. An I keep a little bottle of hand cleaner on my desk to wash the dirt off my fingers in case a client walks in unexpectedly!

Every payday I cash a check and buy rolls of whatever tickles my fancy. The seached coins that are unwanted go into a bag and when my 22 year old son (in school) asks me for some cash....Off he goes to the coin machine!

Anyway, I usually search in the evenings as my better half works the swing shift. Kinda of hard though, when she is off and I have a pile of rolls just sitting there waiting. In order to promote marital harmony I try to avoid searching, sorting, looking at coins when we can be spending time together.

About one or two times a month I go to a bank and get from 2 to 10 rolls of halves. I like using them for tips and stuff. Haven't found anything of value in about 10 years. Just fun to watch the look on people's faces when you hand them some.

When I return from the bank on Saturday mornings. I get rolls of cents. Today I got six rolls.

I roll search any chance I get. Which is pretty much constantly.

When ever i see a roll. Or when ever I go to the bank.

 

any time that i can get to the bank or if i find something special in a box like the 13 liberty nickels that i found out of 3 boxes this week. it is a shame that you can't get free delevery on boxes of coins like pizza. just think of the time we could better use searching coins rather than driving to the band fighting trafic and standing in line.

 

Im not allowed to smoke in the house, so when I go out back I sit by the pool and sort while smoking a cig......do about $25 box of Lincolns a week that way, sometimes more

 

Jack, careful though, imagine if you find a 09 S VDB one day, might want to be careful you don't accidently swallow it. Ouch!

It's a good thing I don't have to go outside to smoke, I would freeze this time of year!! If I roll searched when I smoked I would go through a lot more rolls though.

 

every pay day i deposit my cheque and withdraw it all in 20's( all our bank machines do) search those.. go to the bank buy bricks of 5's, search those and get boxes of cents nickels and dimes.
then, after all that... pay bills:high5:

 

oh.. and something funny.. the other day i was filling up, and i noticed at the gas station they were seling proof coins of the olympic quarters at teh till, and the store has something called (petropoints) of which i had tons of them, so i bought these proof coins for free with petro points

 

Not bad...I have a wireless laptop and you can't beat the weather. My wife is a non smoker...I should be also, I smoke a VF 1924-D every week........smoking not only stinks and is a nasty habit, it is a waste of money

 

I am sure your bill collectors love getting boxes of nickels for payment

My wife gets me $15 a week of cents and I sort through them over the weekend.
