Do need a clearer shot over the dome. In case it's just very worn. But 1944 could be a Henning which would be a valuable counterfeit.
Some of the Hennings don't have the loop on the R in Pluribus. Yes Ken is right, weighing it would help a lot.
Need clearer pics and one from straight on top of the reverse. Probably a Henning counterfeit but clearer pics will determine that.
This is the first I have heard about the "Henning" Nickel. So it is a counterfeit. How did he get away with this and have them in up in circulation? If I did something like this, I would be in jail so quick, it would make my head spin. Now I have to go through all of my nickels.
THIS is why this site has become one of my favorites on line. Because of you people and your informative answers, Thanks!
I have looked very close with a jewlers magnifying glass and there is no sign of any mint mark .I read where henning actualy made counterfeitedfor 3 or 4 years I think 42 ,3 and 4 not forty five but 46
39, 44, 46, 47 and 53. But I believe the 44 and 39 are the most common, as he dumped a ton of others in the river. It should weigh heavy if you have a scale. Certainly doesn't "look" like silver to me. http://www.numismaticenquirer.com/TNE/Henning Counterfeit Nickel.html
