On the contrary, there are "dropped letter" errors on coinage. OP, I'm not saying this is what you have, just that it is a slight possibility. It's the result of tarnish or dirt on the coin, that's why it appears raised. As others have said, there's nothing there. You even admit you know little about coins. Take their word for it.
