Afternoon off, Christmas is put away and have bought the kids fireworks so I turned on the TV and put my old dogs up. According to the TV guide, Mike Mezak is on HSN hawking his overpriced wares. I like coin photos and can turn the volume down. But hey there’s a plus! His assistant is right easy to look at.

Super annoying to actually listen to that show though. Last time I watched it, felt my BP rising so I had to switch the channel.

He is right proud of the “red oak” storage box.

I have a couple of those sitting in a closet upstairs. My parents, bless them, bought the US Territories and the ATB boxes of them for me...

Anyone ever notice that HSN talks to its viewers on the other shows — but not the Coin Collector?

Since I don't have TV I don't get to watch or listen to these guys. Sounds like a good thing.

    Happy New Year!

Attempted to find the easy to look at assistant. . . Apparently not on in my zone. :(

Well it’s over and I been tied up for the last hour with youngsters and firecrackers anyway. First time I actually sat and watched Mike for any length of time. Virtually every coin the man hawked was in a “first day if issue” ANACS holder..... Is that his way of making people think they are buying an early die state minted coin?

Thats the usual. The First Day of Issues can be popular and carry a premium like the show labels can.

That said modern collectors overwhelmingly prefer PCGS/NGC

"Now see here. This 2018 reverse proof cent had a lower mintage than the 1909 S VDB. This will sure to be a big winner in the future folks. And I'm practically giving them away for $30." Or something like that.
