Sorry, friend, but if history suggests anything you're going to be waiting a very long time. This is our own little version of modern politics where certain individuals can spew as they wish without consequence and all while they eagerly project upon others. Perhaps even worse is that our dear overlord, the one who so prides himself on his supposed fairness and objectivity, predictably tells us this is all in our minds, effectively doubling down on the already unfounded accusation. Do notice how not even an attempt has been made, public nor private, to back up the assertion nor has a modicum of decency been displayed by simply removing it, and these are the same people who so love to label us as children. I've a feeling we both know what's really happened here and is sometimes referred to as white knighting. Tammi's one post consisting of an entire list of accusations better fitting her behavior than ours stands unedited all while our insignificant nothings, portions of posts that had absolutely no sexist undertones, were removed. ALL evidence suggests Jim's accusation was made for one reason and one reason only: we had the gall to call BS on a woman. Had we voiced the same concerns over the average male member, as has happened countless times in the past, nothing would have been said and quite clearly suggests our now-edited nothings were never the issue here. Only the sex of one side is and is the very definition of sexism, even when embraced by a man. adjective: - relating to, involving, or fostering sexism, or attitudes and behavior toward someone based on the person's gender. Sadly, Gemmy was right after all. Unfortunately, it seems he targeted the wrong individuals instead of simply looking in the mirror. Words of reasonable wisdom from another recent thread.... Too bad "EVERYBODY" doesn't actually mean EVERYBODY. Never has and never will. This thread is undeniable proof of this most unfortunate reality.
I’m afraid I have to agree here. I have indeed been publicly called a child by the same moderator who edited us. The right thing for Jim to do would be simply to remove the word sexism from his comment. I truthfully didn’t see any sexist comments from tammi either and have no idea why that word ever materialized. I’m afraid without any further information or clarification, I’m inclined to believe you are correct. Remember when the moderators used to remind us that there just another humble member? I noticed they haven’t done that for a few years and I see why.
Oh for god sakes, when are you guys gonna get over it ? The comments that Jim made were NOT specifically directed at any specific individual. They were not even specifically directed at this thread ! His comment was a generalized comment, doing nothing more than informing the membership of the kind of things you are not allowed to do on this forum. Period, end of story. The only thing you are doing is trying to find fault where there is no fault to be found. And it sounds an awful lot like the only reason you are doing it is because a mod dared to edit any of your comments. And every single one of them deserved to be edited by the way. In other words, you're complaining because a mod dared to give you a slap on the wrist. There were no infractions issued, no points accrued - nothing, but an edit to your comments. Member's posts get edited ALL THE TIME ! But nothing more ever comes of it, that's it, the post is edited and that's the end of it. No complaints, no anything. But sometimes there are those who for whatever reason think the rules don't apply to them. In their own eyes they do nothing wrong. And if a mod thinks they do something wrong then they are being picked on, singled out, treated unfairly - because of some imagined personal bias. Well I got news for all of those who complain like this, you're not singled out, you're not picked on - you just break the rules. And some of you break the rules more often than most other members, and repeatedly so ! And you deserve to have your posts edited. What happens, happens because of you - not some moderator !
OK, I was really busy when this first came out, & now that I had time to go back to see what I missed, I feel like I was "sucker punched" by the title to this thread. I was intrigued, but immediately realized I had the OP on "ignore". I should probably just leave without comment, but I won't. The initial responses I read seemed provocative, so I hit the "show ignored content" button and lo & behold, another of my "ignored" posters appeared. Now, I don't understand why the words "sexist" or "sexism" were thrown around so cavalierly, since the only responders to this thread so far are male (well, other than Cheech, but her comment was rather innocuous). Yes, tammiGee, one of the principal participants in this debacle is not "her", he is registered as "Male, from USA" & even uses the male symbol as an avatar. This seems more of an argument to offer knowledgeable, factual content, so as not to mislead the misinformed or gullible, or throw the discourse off on a tangent. Very reasonable. (This is one reason I very seldom will offer my opinions unless I am absolutely certain of my degree of expertise.) That's it....Happy New Year everybody!
That would be a fair and excellent point, Steve, if not for one thing: she’s changed her avatar a number of times, including after earlier posts to this very thread and there’s a reason I’m not the only one who clearly remembers her as being female.
