Bought this on eBay as a 1812 PCGS XF40, looks more AUish to my untrained eye

Heading back to PCGS for Regrade, Variety and TVs

Great looking coin and cool die cracks. Looks higher than 40... I wonder if they netted it. Looks like it was crustier at some point. Awesome regardless.

The reverse eagle looks like a weaker strike. Agree?

Looks like an O-102 to my casual glance.

Needs the variety on the label. It’s the 1812/1

Very nice looking coin. Better than a 40 in my opinion.

If the rumors about PCGS lately are true, that coin is far more likely to come back as XF Details, Cleaned than it is AU.

And honestly, the apparent cleaning might be why it's wearing a 40 right now - the coin looks to me like a 45+ that got the "silent net grade" down a step for the surfaces.

Those clashes are pretty cool, though.

That’s why I’d do a regrade on this one. The worst case it’ll stay a 40 or they buy it back if it went details. It needs the overrate on the holder anyways so I’m just sending it in with a batch of other PCGS coins that I want TVs for that are all getting regraded.
