Hello, a long time ago I purchased these silver coins which is kind of the start of collecting, I left these coins in the plastic holding it came with and stored them away in a lock box for many years. I decided to open the box to find these coins stored away but when I look closely there is a tarnish that formed on the reverse side, I was young at the time and thought leaving them in the plastic holding was ok seeing how it’s considered uncirculated but I probably should have put them in an air tight capsule. Does anyone know what I should do or how to make these coins look perfect again? Also I’d like to get back into collecting silver over time does anyone have any suggestions on what I should start with and where to look? Thank you for your help! Any help would be much appreciated!
Buy some air-tites for them, they are fine the way they are and anything you (or anyone else) might do to them would only damage them.
In my humble opinion, there is no added value to leaving these in the Littleton holders. I would carefully remove and place in air tite brand holders to help arrest the toning. They are not bad at this point but may continue to tone. I don't recommend cleaning or trying to restore them though. But that's just one opinion.
I have several that I have cracked opened a bit to let more air in. They are developing a nice rim tone.
Yes. Littleton is over priced on a lot of things. If you want to guy ASE's, find your local coin store and see what they have in stock. I'm positive it will be cheaper than Littleton and the local dealer will appreciate your business!
The small amount of toning doesn't take away from the visual appeal, value or desirability of those coins — in fact, the toning junkies out there might find them more desirable. As others said, don't risk damage by trying to get rid of it. But do get them out of those holders and into Air-Tite capsules.

I am betting the cardboard/faux leather insert in those holders caused your toning issue. Remove them from the Littleton holders but don’t do anything more. As others have said, anything you do to those surfaces will damage them..... But here’s the bright side. Those ASE’s are readily available. You can find mountains of immaculate examples in the $20.00-&25.00 range. Just replace them with examples that are appealing to you.
Many of the larger online bullion dealers have .999 silver at spot for new customers. Just google silver starter pack.
When I look back, I remember buying close to a dozen of these from Littleton at around $8.00 each. That was good investment back then but now, no I would not buy anything from them. And that was before they set the limitation of one per new customer. If you could gather enough of the ads they placed and space them out, there were no limitations.

You guys are probably right in Littleton being pricy now but back when I bought those I had found a special sale coupon in a coin magazine I believe the special was $6.95 each. I was young about 14 and wanted to start collecting silver coins ( I guess it’s called stacking) I wanted to get as many as I can and put them in a treasure chest lol but finding that voucher is how I started. Nowadays I collect Ancient Greek coins (mainly electrum), Spanish escudos ( still like pirate stuff lol ) and now I’m back to stacking silver
They are starting to tone. Not really tarnish so don't try to clean them. Leave as is and put in air tights.
