Found this going thru a few thousand wheaties I got yesterday. My first clipped coin. Just felt good to find a coin with a slightly more significant error than the usual slightly off center strike or repunched mint .
You’re welcome. Nice find. Do you mean to ask if that effect is common? Yes, the effect is common on curved clips. It helps confirm whether a coin is a genuine, mint-induced clip.
These are more common for errors one can find, but errors are not always common. It’s definitely a keeper. It probably has a small premium of a couple bucks.
So I just noticed the edge above "we" on obverOb side, is that the curve you speak of? Apologies, like I said I'm new. Was so focused on the other end I iver looked that.
As for this here, this is just damage? I ask because I've seen alot of collar damage but this looked a little off .
Green circle is blakesley effect Black circle is the curved clip Please read the link I sent you. It explains everything.
The Blank Planchet itself is not clipped. It was punched to close from a previous Blank that was already punched out of the Copper strip so the area in question is actually never there. FYI - http://www.error-ref.com/_curved_clips_/
Thanks man, not a bad day, scored a bunch of Wheaties while at my mother's over Xmas and I've got a few post worthy buggers here.
