I find this coin really attractive. If you have a book that dicusses this coin's story and recent market pricing, could you please share that information? http://www.vcoins.com/world/aegean/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=243
Germany, Saxony, depicting the Elector of Saxony Augustus I (1553-86), Taler, 1577, armoured bust right, holding sword, dividing date, rev. helmeted arms (Dav. 9798; S. 725) The price is a bit right...I would say it prices around 300-400...in 2005 one sold for 150 pounds in auction at Spink. But it was not quite as nice as this example. Love the coin.
IMO the price is OK, not some super bargain, but not a rip off either... Here are some others currently for sale, not the same year, but the same style... http://www.muenzauktion.com/gornymosch/item.php5?lang=en&id=767&catid=94&curr=USDEUR http://www.muenzauktion.com/kuenker/item.php5?id=714&lang=en http://www.muenzauktion.com/fuerstenberg/item.php5?id=44&lang=en http://www.muenzauktion.com/kvicala/item.php5?id=103&lang=en http://www.muenzauktion.com/kuenker/item.php5?id=1330&lang=en http://www.muenzauktion.com/kvicala/item.php5?id=104&lang=en http://www.muenzauktion.com/kvicala/item.php5?id=95&lang=en FWIW, I've bought from Aegean before & would again.
Thanks very much for the input, everyone. I've done half-hearted searches for books covering this genre, and only came up with few titles that seemed way overpriced. Are there any recent, photo-filled, decently-priced books that would meet my needs, or is it the case that I'd have to pay a lot for an obscure book? I shy from the mega-breadth world coin volumes just because I expect that I'd only really see about 10% of what's really "out there" in my interest areas. Set me straight if I'm wrong.. Thanks again, all .
Decent coin, price conservative for grade, but if you're looking for one, you will find it hard to get one much cheaper..
