hey guys just came across this Lincoln penny that has something weird going on with the back half of Lincoln’s head. Anyone ever seen an error like this? It looks to have come from the mint this way but I’m not too sure.. any info would be appreciated!
Kind of strange that it would follow his coat line so perfectly. That makes me think it might be PMD, because it just affected the high parts in that area of the coin.
I don't know if that will be deemed to be post mint damage - what you see on the obverse of the coin around the head; but, I am wondering (being rather new at this myself) whether I am seeing doubling around the nose, lips, chin hair and even eye of Pres. Lincoln. BTW, Welcome To CoinTalk @MCPark82
I'm wondering if this isn't some sort of lamination? If it was a scrape of some kind, I would have thought it would have scarped the O in God also but it looks undamaged.
