Good way to store penny rolls?

Hello all, Meow has a bunch of penny rolls of recent dates and is finding it hard to find a good way to store them. Meow has tried an ammo can, but even the smallest (30cal) one gets too heavy when filled. Maybe one could say just leave them half filled, but then it takes up too much space; And too much open space in the can is not good too, as Meow thinks its best to store coins with as little air as possible. But an ammo can is super durable, super airtight, and fairly cheap. But with all the cons mentioned above keeps it an inviable option. (30 cal ammo cans can hold about 90 rolls)

Sure, they are many ways to store them if cost is not an option. Meow cant spend any amount of real money to store lets say 2018 rolls. So if Meow wanted to store 25 rolls of those pennies with a value of $12.50, Meow cant justify spending a whole lot to store them. Meow has a few pawful of different dates and mints, that Meow would rather not mix up. So a airtight container that could hold 20-30 penny rolls that is also cheap is what Meow is looking for. Meow does not want to put them in ziplock bags, or anything similar. Some box like container that rolls fit into well, and airthight that can be stacked up a labeled. Even after looking around the net for a while, Meow could not find anything that fit the bill well. So Meow wanted to ask all here for some ideas.

you mentioned recent dates, so I'd say:
at your bank, deposited to your account

So you think having BU rolls of 2018 pennies are not worth saving?

Which is ANOTHER task I need to finish. Thanks for the reminder. The cost of real estate where I live is sky high so there's no sense filling it up with recent circulated cents or even older ones that don't have anything except PMD which, when I started looking at US cents and until @paddyman98 and others virtually grabbed me by the proverbial ear, each seemed to me to be the most special 'penny'....like...ever!

Since storage is a problem compounded by Meows limitations, I would like to suggest Meow invest them in kitty litter and cat food.

So you guys can just mock, and offer no real help. Why? There are many other media sites where you guys can troll. Lets not do that here, and help each other out with coin related stuff.

By the way, Meow has only started collecting this year. So to get a BU rolls of 2018 pennies by chance makes Meow very happy. Meow may not be going for deep pocket items, yet. But is enjoying Meowself tremendously coin roll hunting, and buying a affordable graded coin once in a while on ebay.

Maybe if you would stop referring to yourself in the third person, and as a cat, people would take you more seriously. Also the suggestion of dropping them off at a bank is a pretty good one. Take the little money you have and spend it on what you actually like.

Perhaps its too late due to sales to move material from Christmas out, But I bought some of these at the 99 cent store before the holiday and they just happen to fit cent and nickel rolls. They have a somewhat tight lid, and would slow down exposure to air. The paper wraps fit perfectly, but the ones in plastic numismatic tubes do not. The ribbon is removable. They were only 99 cents For what its worth. Some of the round ones are tall enough to put rolls in on end , but take a roll to measure with Jim

    p.s. they are metal

Now that's the kind of reply Meow wanted to hear. That looks like it would work, and it has good price tag too. Was there anything inside when you bought it? Candy or Cookies maybe?

I'm actually going to experiment with military Ammo Cans. Living in a military town you can't swing a dead cat and not find like 200 of them... I'll let you know my results this weekend I'm trying to clear up some of my old penny and nickel stash now...

Watch for preservative chemicals, maybe good for ammo, but not for humans

The containers were empty when purchased.

Please don't swing Cats, even dead ones. Meow thinks the ammo cans are too large, and weight too much when full. That's why Meow hoping to find something just as protective, But not too heavy when full.

That might be a good way to get a two for one package. Find some tins with cookies or candy (there should be some Christmas ones on sale now at stores like Target). You'll enjoy the sweets and then have storage options too. Win win! :)

I suggest you do what desertgem says with those tins or start haunting your local flea markets and garage sales for small boxes .

Alternatively, you can go to the post office, and for free, pick up some small priority boxes. Good enough to store, but not waterproof. For your newer rolls it is probably fine.

Yet a second cat to help carry the ammo boxes.

If you have a couple rolls, save them. Don't stock up on them though. I don't foresee them being valuable, but if you are only saving a buck or two worth and you have the room, why not?
