I am doing the same buddy. I got a beating at ANACS on that 1921 S Cent that I will never forget. They were quite far off in my opinon. I felt that the coin shouldn't have gone below AU50.
WoW!!!!! They graded your 21S, less than AU50????? What grade did the assign it???? Im gonna go find the pictures of the 21S and take another look but I remembred it being alot nicer than an XF
XF-40, I compared it to a few lincolns I own certified XF's and this one looks better than most of my AU coins!! I am going to resubmit it to NGC, not because there is a huge jump but because I love this coin and would like to keep it in the family at the grade it deserves.
Ah, I was looking at the full red 21S. I forgot all about the woodgrain one. Now that full red is deff MS and I figured like MS63 and was really confused how Anacs could call it XF40. But I did forget about the woodgrain one. Still, the woodgrain one should be higher than XF40. It should be atleast AU50. And yes, you should resubmit
I like your coin too!! But I don't know about better??? J/K I wish mine was full red but you know I kind of like the old red brownie!
Just to be sure, which 21-S ae you talking about? The wood grain or the red? Either one, I think you got $%^%^ed.
Believe it or NOT, I still have yet to recieve the nice red 21 S and I am so scared that it is going to be Jacked up some how, cleaned or recolored. But it was only a $300 dollar gamble or "lottery ticket" per say. So who knows.
Thanks...XF-40 is tight but not outrageous. ANACS and ICG are going to have alot to prove to get legit....expect no freebies, coin are going to have to be solid SOLID for the grade
I do not have the coin in hand and wood grained coins are EXTREMELY difficult for me to read, but I see nothing on that coin to me think it is anything less than a good AU. There are virtually no bag marks on the coin. Only some nicks where something has scraped the coin above the "ONE".
Yeah, it's hard to tell from a pic especially. The right wheats awful weak and looks like gunk on it, but is it strike or wear??? Obverse near the VDB / lower left bust may have black spotting as well, who knows, it's only a picture we are seeing
