    Hello. all.

I would like to get your view about this denarius whether it is cast or not.

First, the dealer is reliable and has a long history in ancient coins dealing.

But I think weight is a little low and surface is soft like as it is casted and there is suspicious pit on the right side of obverse above all.

there is no seam on the edge.

the weight is 3.35 g and diameter is 18mm and axis is 6h

Here are some pictures of it.(Though the coin is mine, I did not take the first picture for myself. If it can make a problem, let me know and I will delete it)

Any opinion can help me. Thanks.

I don't think it's cast. This type shouldn't be, as you know. I think the slightly granular surfaces can be explained away as micro-porosity from environmental causes, which is not uncommon on ancient silver.

Others will correct me if I am wrong on this, however.

The coin looks OK to me.

Hi there, POCAS. Did you ask this on Forum Ancient Coins? What was their response?

What’s with all of the hyperlinks?

You retain hyperlinks when you cut and paste terms from Forvm and I am glad to see new people have taken the time to go there are learn the meanings of terms rather than just using them blindly. I don't consider it a necessary practice but anything that builds a numismatic vocabulary is OK with me. I tried:

Yes, sir. you are right. I asked same question FORVM first and copied it. By the way, how do you think about my denarius?
