Meow has found two nice doubled die quarters CRH today. A Fort McHenry with at least 6 affected spots. And a Homestead with a light doubling of the water pump. One of the better ones Meow has found. Just wanted to share. Nice meow, I have yet to find any of the doubled pump variety. On the Fort McHenry, I have not done any research on it other than hearing it detailed in a youtube video as a DD but, I supposed he was wrong and it was actually just die chips alongside the bursts. Because they don't seem to mirror the devices like they should.

But no doubt Meow's Fort McHenry quarter is a DD right? It shows what Meow surely thinks in Doubled dyeing in the Flag, and multiple places in the rocket bursts.

Fort McHenry is wexler #2 .
    Homestead is either wexler #21, #121 ..

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Doubled dies on these single-squeeze hubbed state quarters generally have a very different appearance than the classic double-squeeze dies that always used to occur.

In this case, there are literally hundreds, which you can see here: http://doubleddie.com/1467540.html

I think Rick is probably right with #121 for the homestead.

I don't know. If you need a 10x loupe for such a minor doubled die, what's the point?

I am uncertain Meow, the fort has always looked like die chips to me but Rick just listed a wexler # for it so I must be wrong. You are on a roll!

Sometimes it is cost. We get the thrill of the hunt and if we find something it cost us .25c. Some of us are broke, on a tight budget or just plain cheap lol!
Nice 3x Quarter btw! I love the errors you share and can see myself slowly moving in the same direction with the occasional purchase of interesting errors.

Thanks for taking the time to check that out for Meow.

From what Meow has seen, die chips look more like boogers on a coin. Some may be very small, but they are lumpy and do not mimic the design. Except for the fairly common 2008 extra cactus leaf Arizona quarter. As the cactus leaves in the design look like lumps to begin with.

Yes, Meow loves the thrill of the hunt too. It is a natural instinct for Cats. Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, I get it. It's just if you can't even see it I don't see the fun of it

And also, Machine doubling can look similar to Doubled dying much more so than die chips. Meow has a Arizona quarter with 7 die chips posted in another thread a few weeks ago. You will see that all the chips are lumps. And they do not mirror the design in any way. Besides the cactus leaves part, as the cactus leaves in this design look like lumps anyway.

The Fort McHenry is a nice class 8 doubled die .
