Yet another series that will only be seen in circulation as change when buying transit tickets at ticket kiosks. Another series we will hate getting as change, another series banks will hate getting, another series businesses will hate getting. Make them 90% or 40% silver to make them more interesting.
In 1984 I was driving on Interstate 5, lit one up, it really stunk, so the pack went out the window and I never lit one since. That's 34 yrs. now!
Starting next year, Yes. No, not unless Congress passes new legislation authorizing it. The authorization for the previous series has terminated.
@Inspector43 I have been wondering how many different U.S. stamps were made in the 1st 100 years? I can't find any good data on this question. I think U.S. stamps are REEEAL interesting, and am tempted to start a collection of them.
The USPS puts out a "Guide to U.S. Stamps". I just got the latest 44th Edition. It has a color picture of each stamp and description of the variations from 1847 to date. It is several hundred pages long. If you are really interested I suggest that you go on-line to the postal store at USPS.com. This book is awesome. It lists every stamp and includes the Scott Number which is the most recognized numbering system for stamps. Please let me know if I can give more help. If you don't want to buy it perhaps I can help in other ways.
@Daniel Jones I just bought the guide and can't find it on the USPS site. I will find it and send you the link. I am sure it can be picked up at Amazon but might be more. Will get back to you.
@Daniel Jones I found it but it is listed as not available. You will probably have to get it at one of the on-line stores. If you want to go another direction you can Scoots Specialized Catalog. Get back to me if I can help.
Okay, thank you. I thought once a president passed, their dollar coin would automatically be released.
Not a product for me, I guess. With the exception of a couple of commems, I've tried to overlook every coin the US Mint has issued in my lifetime.
Thank you so much! Yes, your input is very helpful. I now understand why it is difficult to keep up with the stamp program, much like the coin program with SOOO many new issues coming out every year.
Oh. I thought they were NIFC like the current Native American dollar coins, and Kennedy halves. I didn't know they were going to circulate at all.
I'm with you, I didn't think they would be used for circulation. However, you can spend them if you want to loose the premium that you paid.
That's what I assumed. Since the President dollars have been NIFC halfway through, and all the Native American Dollars (since 2012?) NIFC and all the Kennedy's since 2002. I just figured, people would buy them from the mint, try to grade a few 69's and dump the rest at face value. But they would not be circulated from the mint to the banks.
Wonder if this series is going be a good one over the years or they just going be good for circulation
