Good morning !! I found this coin in a roll of quarters,, did I get cheated ? I have no Idea what it is ,, its kinda pretty seems to have an egg plant on the one side a large 100 on the other with a 52 in between some oriental writing,, a little help would be much appreciated. If I got took I will take it back to the bank and get my quarter. LOL Thanks Rick
Your coin is a Japanese 100 Yen. It is one of 440,000,000 minted in 1977 (year 52 in the reign of Emperor Hirohito). It is a copper-nickel alloy. In the grade of XF it lists for $1.50 in my Krause Catalog of World Coins. An UNC coin lists for $2.50. A quick currency conversion: 100 Yen = $0.973710
Spark a YN's interest. Give it to your paperboy, or the kids at your favorite fast food joint, as a tip. Hint - let them know what it is.
