Great coins, Brian! Your reasons for acquiring them are like mine, we think alike. That is why I am not fussy about modern issues. You have picked a lot of "animal" themed reverses, I really like that a lot. John
Great collection of coins @Alegandron ! Of course, I am partial to the RR ones. I like the wolf and eagle working together.
So many great coins, but special mention to the puppy dog jumping ! And of course I really think the Papius/wolf would do very well in my Lupa sub-collection Well done Sir ! Q
Nicely presented, @Alegandron! To me, the "why" is one of the most interesting things to read about other people's coins.
Great set of coins for an "off" year! I agree with your assessment of what was interesting about those. There are so many things to find interesting in ancient coins that it is hard to stay focused in one area. John
All these coins are awesome as is the brevity of your descriptions My favorite is your Mercenary War Skekel. It was one of your coins / write ups that first got me interested in that conflict. An interesting (and horrific) historical event to be sure. Great coins @Alegandron . I hope whatever is causing you stress in your personal life works out for you soon my friend.
Brav-freaking-O! I've scrolled through here several times and am just loving your year! The amazing RRs, your Cartheginian horse dropping a pellet, to your makedonians and on and on are all excellent examples. Heck, I had to kill an old lady loan shark and her dumb sister to get my Laelianus...and yours blows mine out of the water! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your reasoning as well. Haha! In regards to your life change, take comfort brother, this to shall pass. If ever you should need someone to watch over your collection (forever) just send them on to your ol pal @Ryro and they'll be in good (greedy) hands.
LOL, although I am not a Razorback, I grew up many years in the Arkansas Ozarks... reckon thats why I like PIGS!
I love the original post for its "WHY?" questions and answers. I think they are just right and many of us would buy those coin types for the same reasons. Can anyone really call themselves and ancient-coin collector if they don't have a pig or a dog on a coin?
