Listed cheap for the condition, but right after I made an offer, something caught my eye. What do you see?
For a split second my heart raced.... Then I realized it's not a Dime lol. Nice photoshop job, I'd report that to eBay as a fraudulent listing.
It took me about 45 seconds to make this much better version on MS paint. It looks alot more authentic; If you're going to be dirty enough to do this at least do it RIGHT.
Probably not, but it further detracts from the coin. Have you tried asking the seller what those photoshopped spots hide?
I've seen posters on forums photoshop out blemishes to make their coins look better. They told me they just wanted to present the best version of a coin. I told them that was horse malarkey. I would never buy from anyone who did this - it is fraudulent, and should be reported to Ebay (they won't actually do anything about it, but reporting it is still the right action).
I don't understand the thought process behind this. If there are ugly spots on a coin, you photoshop them out, and it sells based on those doctored "photos", what do you expect for an outcome except a Significantly Not As Described case?
You know, unless those spots are graffiti or partially drilled holes, his price is not bad at all ($79 obo). So basically, he probably could have left it un-doctored and still gotten a solid offer. I mean a little corrosion or a couple dings that small don't devalue it much below the price it's listed at.
I was looking hard for the 9/6 or the C-1, so I didn’t notice the botched MS Paint job. Maybe I would have seen them if I was looking to buy.
