I have this 1922 Plain Lincoln Cent which I believe is die pair #1 due to the crack running from the L in Pluribus through O in One. It seems to meet all of the other criteria as well. This cent has been in my possession for over 50 years so I'm pretty sure it's a genuine L Does it appear to be legitimate 22 plain? Does it have any premium value? Would you have it graded or would it be a waste of money? Thanks for taking the time to respond. Joe
I think it looks good, If I were you I would probably send it in too PCGS or NGC, it would come back a really low grade though.
Even if it comes back No D? That's still a valuable coin worthy of authentication. I am at AG-03 even considering the worn dies.
@Michael K I'm inclined to agree with you. I'm certain it's a legitimate Die Pair #1 and AG-03 seems fair. I have one or two other's that I'm having difficulty determining the die pairs so I'll post them in different posts and see what everyone thinks.
I would be afraid, they look at it and it comes back, weak D or D removed. But if you have matched the die pair, I guess I would include that information in the submission if that is allowed.
I agree with die pair 1. From the picture it looks like a no D, not just weak. I think it would get a G4 .
