    Gordian III (238-244 AD), Nysa-Scythopolis, Decapolis

    Draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right, seen from rear, laureate / Tyche-Nysa seated on throne right, holding infant Dionysus in her arms. Delta T across fields (Dated Pompeian Era 304, AD 240/1). 24 mm, 10.7 g

    I have found this thread and think that my coin could have a place here. It is one of my loveliest:

    bust, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.
    c/m (Δ containing central dot, in triangular punch)
    rev. CЄΛЄYKЄΩN TΩN ΠPOC TΩ
    across field KA - Λ / YK - AΔ / N - Ω
    Aphrodite standing frontal, head right, looking at mirror in her raised l. hand;
    2 Erotes standing facing on either side, each holding marriage torch.
    in ex. ЄΛЄYΘЄ / PAC
    ref. SNG Levante 774 var.; SNG Paris 1029 var.; Howgego 670 (c/m)

    Just picked this up.
    Cappadocia. Caesarea. Gordian III AD 238-244.
    Drachm AR 17mm. 3.26g.

    AV KAI M ANT ΓOPΔIANOC, laureate head right / MHTPO KAI BNԐ, Mt. Argaeus; • in upper right field, ЄTΔ in exergue.

    That comes from preparing the flan with a lathe before striking. The best explanation about this technique of flan preparation can be found here at Classical Coins’ website.
