The Oklahoma State Quarter was released today and I attended the ceremonies held at the Oklahoma History Center this afternoon. Oklahoma's Governor Brad Henry was there along with Acting Deputy Director of the U.S. Mint Dan Shaver. Mr. Shaver presented Governor Henry with the signed line drawing of the quarter that was used as the engraver's model. The governor was also presented with the first two Oklahoma quarters minted. It was all very patriotic with the National Anthem being played, then the Pledge of Allegiance being recited. A Junior High School band played the song "Oklahoma" and, of course, the U.S. Mint's mascot, Peter the Eagle was in attendance. I bought a couple rolls of quarters along with a set of P & D mint quarters in a special presentation holder. All in all, a very exciting afternoon. I hope everyone enjoys the Oklahoma quarter:
