Hi all, I recently purchased this 1900 IHC from a coin shop in the Chinatown District of NYC. I have seen counterstamp coins but have never owned one. Looks ligit to me. Gentleman said he had it forever.
I was thinking Re-elect OR Roosevelt Mckinley yea? If it looks orig. to the coin. Just throwing it out there
When you say it "looks ligit" (legit), what do you mean exactly? Yeah, it is a counterstamp. It is damage. Unless you know who punched or why, it is meaningless. In my opinion, it is severely damaged.
Interesting idea, but why would they put the VP candidate 1st? McKinley was a sitting president during the 1900 election, and Roosevelt was just some guy who had not yet built the reputation and aura that he earned while being president.
